Wim Wenders finishes the shooting of The Beautiful Days of Aranjuez

Wim Wenders has finished the shooting of his new film The Beautiful Days of Aranjuez. The film, shot in Paris, is based on the work of the writer Peter Handke and produced by Paulo Branco.

The protagonists of this powerful story are the actors Reda Kateb (winner of the César for Best Supporting Actor in 2015) and Sophie Semin. The casting also features the actor Jens Harzer and the musician Nick Cave. The direction of photography is … of Benoît Debie, responsible for the cinematography of films such as Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers”(2012), “Lost River” (2014) by Ryan Gosling and “Everything Will be Fine” (2015) by Wim Wenders.

It is the first film shot in France by Wim Wenders, no presentation is needed for the author who directed classics like “Paris, Texas” (Palme d’Or and FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Festival in 1984) and “The Wings of Desire” (1987) or more recently “The Salt of the Earth” (2014).

“Les Beaux Jours d’Aranjuez – Un dialogue d’été » is the first text directly written in french by Peter Handke. Nevertheless, it isn’t his first collaboration with Wenders, having previously worked together in “Wrong Movement” (1975) and “The Wings of Desire” (1987).

The play “Les Beaux Jours d’Aranjuez – Un Dialogue d’été” was staged by Tiago Guedes at the 2014 edition Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival, in a unique session at Centro Cultural de Belém.

The film is a production by Alfama Films and Neue Road Movies, with the associated production of Leopardo Filmes and the participation of RTP.
